Abstract

The objective of this project is to demonstrate on a proof-of-concept (POC) scale, capacity 100 kg/h, and subsequently on the full-scale, capacity 1.7 ton/h, a novel, patented process for catalytic liquid conversion (CatLiq) applicable to a number of liquid biomass and waste streams. The main objective of the POC demonstration will be to optimise the process operating parameters using different biomass and waste feed, and develop specifications for a full-scale plant.

The full-scale demonstration plant will be a CHP plant based on CatLiq process using one engine-generator unit with electric output of 500 kW. This plant will use sewage sludge produced at user's site and will produce electricity and heat to be used at the site. The main objective is to demonstrate plant's long-term technical and economic viability and it will serve as a reference for dissemination of CatLiq technology.
