Abstract

The objective is to introduce a novel technology, which makes it possible to increase use of unprocessed biomasses and solid waste fuels in high-energy consuming European industries.

The specific objectives of this demonstration HOTDISC project are:

  • Prove that the reactor can operate with a feed rate of at least 3 ton/h of biomass / waste fuel;
  • Demonstrate that this will save an amount of coal of 14.000 tons / year, which constitute 25% of the fossil fuel energy consumed by the cement plant;
  • To Demonstrate an investment of 1030 EUR/kWe, and a production cost (positive) of (0.03) / kWh;
  • To show a reduction of the emission of CO2 of 36.000 tons / year
  • To demonstrate a reduction of emissions of harmful compounds and elements like NOx, heavy metals and dioxins / furans. For NOx specifically about 230 ton NO2 / year;
  • To preserve jobs.
