FP7 model consortium agreement |
Consortium agreements are extremely important in FP7, or indeed any other jointly funded project involving un-conected organisations, as they set out the rules by which the consortium will abide within the project. These cover issues such as intellectual property rights (IPR), voting rights, the management of the consortium, distribution of external funds and other key points that should ensure the smooth running of an FP7 project.
It is of course possible for a consortium to draw together such an agreement starting from scratch. However, this may involve legal fees and raise issues since legal practices may differ between Member States.
In order to reduce effort in compiling a consortium agreement, the website indicated above may assist a coordinator in preparing such an agreement.
This website, established by DESCA, a group of European research stakeholders, proposes several versions of such model agreements which can be adapted to individual projects. These include
The model agreements have been developed from a network of research organisations including the French National Association for Research and Technology (ANRT), the European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (EARTO), the European Association of Chambers of Commerce (Eurochambres) and other organisations, including Helmholtz, Kowi and UNITE.
All four versions of the model consortium agreement are available from the DESCA website as detailed above.
