Life-sys wood: a consistent approach to the life-cycle analysis of wood products
Objectives
Technical Approach
Wood is a major industrial and engineering material from renewable resources. After use it is largely recyclable or can be burnt to recover energy. Despite these environmental advantages, there is considerable debate about the environmental impact of wood products. One problem is that the structure of the wood industry means that environmental studies of wood and wood products are often fragmented and use different methods. This project aims to overcome this problem by collaborative research.
Expected Results
I. Direct Results
II. Indirect Results
Applications
There is considerable direct and indirect industrial involvement in this project. Dissemination of the results has been incorporated in the project plan. It is intended that wood product producers, wood product specifiers, wood product users, legislators and policy makers will use the results.
