The company contributes to the productivity and profitability of its clients in the entire value chain by
51 % of STFI-Packforsk is owned by six companies (Billerud, Holmen, Korsnäs, M-real, Stora Enso and Södra). The balance is owned by the Swedish government through IRECO Holding (29 %), The STFI Association of Interested Parties (10 %) and The Private Owners' Association Packforsk (10 %).
Research priorities include 'Biorefinery' - which aims to develop novel technologies for valorisation of pulp mill residues into value added chemicals without negatively affecting the whole process or the quality of the fibre produced as well as topics such as 'Chemical and energy revcovery in the kraft mill', 'Microbiology: control of specific problem organisms' and 'New fibres - New Materials'.
