Bringing European Research in Renewable BioMaterials to the Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Textile, Material and Construction Industries

Contract No: QLK5-2000-30100
Project Type: AM (Accompanying Measure)
Start Date: 01-06-2001
Duration: Extended to 43 months
Total Cost: 243,431 EUR
EC Contribution: 243,431 EUR
Scientific Officer: Ciaran MANGAN

Extension of project

In May 2003 the European Commission granted an extension to this project, allowing it to continue until the end of 2004. This will enable publication of progress and final reports of most of the projects funded under FP5. During the extension period Biomatnet will continue to produce electronic newsletters at approximately 3 month intervals, it will also produce further CD-ROMs and be present at appropriate workshops, meetings and conferences. In addition it will cover relevant activities under the current RTD Framework programme (FP6) as well as the development of the next one (FP7).

Abstract

The objective of this Accompanying Measure is to assist the European Commission in the dissemination of the results obtained from projects currently being funded in the area of non-food use of agricultural and forest products ( Key Action 5.2 of FP5). The main objective is to bring the results (periodic and final non-confidential reports) of around 800 projects funded through EC Framework Programmes to the attention of potential users. This will be achieved both by direct database access (via the internet and CD-ROMs) and indirectly (via displays, newsletters, books, brochures, etc., produced using the database). This Accompanying Measure will also provide feedback to the EC and assist them in management of existing projects and planning for future programmes, etc. It will also assist in the rapid dissemination of EC information and announcements to a targetted audience, which will also be reached through representation at selected exhibitions and conferences. The activity should enable a wide range of organisations (including the EC) to quickly obtain up-to-date results and contact details from a central database.
