Abstract
This project, which contains some of the elements of the previous
VIEWLS project aims at:
- building an attractive European Partnership in which biofuel and energy efficient vehicle
stakeholders and local
governments and industrial and commercial end-users meet and are encouraged to form new
partnerships. This, in
order to accelerate on the short term the market introduction of biofuels and energy efficient
vehicles within the
opportunities local sustainable mobility policies offer, and on the longer term to stimulate the
continued market penetration
of biofuels to develop both the biofuel developments through identification of strategic R&D
needs and the jont
development of the sustainable mobility and environmental policies;
- validating the results and monitor in an independent and uniformed way the progress
of biofuel projects, both R&D and
demonstrattion, in order to advice industrial and commercial stakeholders, national local
government and the European
Commission on further implementation of biofuels and energy efficient vehicles;
- supporting the biofuel stakeholders and the local governments in their communication,
dissemination and awareness
raising activities by supplying tools developed within this project, based on the experiences from the project execution and
the resulting information from all stakeholder.
The expected results of this project are:
- a well-established and highly-rated operational Biofuel cities European Partnership,
which will continue its operation
after the project's period of 36 months; and
- an operational monitoring system to keep track of the biofuel projects developments in
Europe.
The consortium for this Co-ordination Action consists of seven partners, having extensive
experience in managing and
co-ordinating activities in: biofuels, sustainable mobility, energy efficiency, local
governments and enterprises, environment
activities and communication and communication strategy development.
