LINK (legume interactive network) a strong multidisciplinary scientific network for the benefit of grain legume integrated chain to meet the protein demand of the European end-use industry
Objectives
The general mission of LINK is to set up a European network covering topics related to grain legumes and the products thereof. This means to stimulate an efficient multidisciplinary approach for improving the appropriate primary production of these raw materials and their industrial uses, in order to overcome the remaining constraints and meet the demand in European protein-rich materials.
LINK provides us the tools for a stronger coordination by:
Technical Approach
Task 1: (i) surveys on the two economic branches (primary production, end-uses) in Europe and analysis; (ii) definition of issues to be targeted by the research or commercial actions to be implemented.
Task 2: (i) interactions between on-going European projects on grain legumes; (ii) identification of the research gaps and definition of recommendations.
Task 3: (i) implement relevant thematic workshops to overcome the identified needs and gaps; (ii) transfer methodologies and results, initiate joint programmes and commercial applications.
Task 4: Services and means to support task implementation, communication and cohesion.
Expected Results
The technical deliverables of LINK consist of the technical outputs of the economic surveys, of the thematic workshops and of the programmes or contracts initiated thanks to LINK exchanges. Some expected examples can be indicated hereafter:
