Abstract

The project aims to boost bioenergy use in Europe through targeted actions over 26 months. It is proposed by the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry of Styria (Austria) and 4 partners from Italy, Romania, Slovenia and the Slovak Republic. It will focus on the barriers reflecting lack of co-operation, information and training within the agricultural and forestry sector and lack of public awareness among decision makers. The most important objectives are:

• To mobilise the large biomass potential from fragmented private owned forests and from agricultural land by increasing the co-operation among farmers and forest owners,
• To integrate the agricultural and forestry sector into the energy market as raw material supplier (e.g. woodchips) or as energy supplier (e.g. bio heat) and
• To stimulate local and trans-national exchange of experiences and know-how transfer.

Best practice booklets will be produced and distributed to target groups and key actors. Training courses will be developed and organised. Exchange of experiences and know-how transfer will be done mostly by workshops and study tours. Regional bioenergy coordinators will be established as a link between bioenergy suppliers and customers.
