Consultation - United Kingdom
Consultation on proposals for managing the coexistence of GM and non-GM crops in England |
Note: The deadline for responses to the consultation was 20 October 2006.
This consultation sought views on proposed measures at farm level to ensure that GM, conventional and organic crops can coexist, should approved GM crops be grown in England commercially in due course. The paper also discusses related issues such as options for compensating non-GM farmers for possible economic losses due to GM cultivation.
If GM crops are grown here in due course farmers may need to apply measures to ensure that they can coexist with non-GM production. The aim will be to minimise unwanted mixing of GM and non-GM crops, and thereby ensure that producers and consumers can choose between GM, conventional and organic products.
